Facilities
“Our facilities are always praised by visiting teams and their
spectators and we pride ourselves in providing some of the best teas
in the League. We host a Yorkshire Schoolboys junior match each
year and they are always delighted with the facilities and catering we
provide. We are an ECB ‘clubmark accredited’ club and are always
looking at ways we can improve.
We recently completely refurbished our clubhouse at a cost of
£60k with some partial funding assistance from the ECB by way of an
interest free loan and we are very pleased with the results. This was
only possible because we are a ‘clubmark accredited’ club.
At the moment we are in the process of erecting ball-stop netting
at the far end of the ground to alleviate issues with the ball landing
in the adjacent road and neighbouring garden. Through the coming
winter we are planning to move the driveway from the front to the
side of the club and the practice nets to the rear of the club so that the
playing area can be extended.”
Challenges/Ambitions
“The biggest challenge is ensuring that the junior players stay
with the club and progress to senior players. We currently have 3
senior teams, one of which is a Sunday Team through which we
introduce juniors to senior cricket and then we hope that they will
then continue to play on a Saturday for the first and second teams.
Our ambition for the First team is to win the Parish Cup for the
first time ever since the club was founded in 1869 and to continue to
play at the highest level possible. Our ambition for Junior cricket is to
continue to thrive and we also need to find volunteers to ensure that
the club can fill all the positions required to enable it can keep going.”
