B
ased at The Stockings Field, Mill Lane in Gloucestershire, Aston Ingham CC prides themselves on being a friendly,
active club with outstanding facilities. At present they are led by the team of President John Leighton and Chairman
Mark Savidge and they have been progressing well under their guidance.
This season their first team has been
in fine form, putting together a record of
eight wins and three defeats from their
eleven matches. This sees them sitting in
2nd place in the table with 173 points on
the board.
This should provide them with the
perfect platform from which to go on
and put together a successful
campaign. As long as
they can keep up
their
recent
54 Issue 41
form they should be in with an
excellent chance of mounting a serious
championship challenge and there is a
confidence among the players that they
can go all the way.
Aston Ingham is not a club to focus
solely upon their senior section however
and this is reflected by the fact that they
also have a number
of youth sides
in place. These teams look to provide
young players from the local area
with an opportunity to play the game
in a safe and enjoyable environment
whilst helping them to reach their full
potential.
It is important for any club looking
to be successful over a sustained period
of time to be able to produce their own
talent and this is an area that Aston
Ingham appears to have covered. It
will certainly be exciting to see how
their youngsters can progress over the
coming years.
In order to help ensure that these
players enjoy a smooth transition into
the senior game they also have a 2nd
team running. This allows them to
gain experience of the adult game
even if they are not yet considered
ready for first team action which
can be an important step in the
development process.
Another benefit of having
an extra side is that it allows
the first XI to benefit from far
greater strength in depth. If
