drawing from not only Leicestershire
but from other minor counties, including
Huntingdonshire bowler Rob Sayer – who
now plays for the county squad – and
his younger brother Dave, who recently
joined the academy.
The club also have the Leicestershire
Young Crickets Educational Trust. This
is to benefit the young up-and-coming
cricketers in the club, allowing them to
be able to train throughout the winter,
both in England and overseas. This way
they utilize the working relationships the
club have with academies in South Africa
and in Adelaide, Australia. Bowlers also
benefit from going to India for intense
training. Not only this, the LYCET
provides educational scholarships for
those in the academy.
Grace Road also has a wide range of
hospitality on match day. They range
from having a pint of beer and a curry for
the faster matches such as Twenty20 to
high-quality cuisine meals for the longer
games. There is everything for everyone.
One of their packages includes one for
Edgbaston during the 3rd Ashes test
between England and Australia this year.
Not only will coffee and breakfast cobs be
supplied but also a personalised hamper
lunch, making it special for everyone.
