Somerset
we keep playing well we should be
there or there abouts.
“We have a lot of young home-
grown players and in the final we
had eight players from Somerset and
the surrounding area so bringing on
local talent has been a real focus.
There is a clear pathway for players
to come through and play for the
first team which is very important.
Not everyone will end up being a
first-class cricketer so we also work
hard to make sure that players can
play enjoyable recreational cricket
with the ladies cricket developing
here now as well.
“We work very hard to play an
important role in the community.
We recently held our Inclusion
Week which allowed our disabled
teams to demonstrate their skills and
I’d like to stress that we are not all
about having a successful first team
although that obviously helps; we
are also focused on reaching out to
the whole broader community. Our
community engagement programme
works with the cricket board and
particularly in somewhere like
Taunton and Somerset where we are
integral to both the town and social
inclusion in the area that is very
important.
“Our ambition over the next five
years is to win trophies at first team
level. That sounds very simplistic but
you have to do an awful lot of things
right to make sure that happens. That
includes the pathway for bringing
young players through, playing a
style of cricket that people want to
come and watch as well as making
sure you have the right facilities in
place so that people enjoy visiting
the club. When you do things well,
winning trophies becomes a reward
for all of the hard work, dedication
and professionalism that goes into
making Somerset CCC a success.”
“Rotec had a connection with the head groundsman Simon Lee over at Somerset CCC and we decided to take out a sponsorship of the wicket
covers a number of years ago. Rotec started in the town in August 1979 and in 2019 Rotec celebrate their 40th anniversary. Having local links to
the town is important to the business and the opportunity to expand our support through local community sports clubs such as SCCC in the area
was an ideal partnership.
We have sponsored Somerset CCC for over five years now and have a wonderful connection with the club. We attend games regularly at Somerset
CCC and often take staff and clients down to use their hospitality throughout the season.
Somerset CCC have excellent links
with the business community, often their
facilities are used to host events with local
trade partners including the Somerset
Chamber of Commerce. Aside, part of
Rotec’s core business is manufacturing
hydraulic hose assemblies, occasionally
this service helps keep the groundsman’s
machines in working order repairing any
broken hoses for the club.
Rotec have followed Somerset CCC
home and away and we are all proud
to be associated with a top community
county cricket club. It has been fantastic
to see Tom Abell a local lad who is the
current club captain do so well coming
through the academy. From all of us here
at Rotec we would like to wish everyone
associated with Somerset CCC all
the very best and we look forward to a
long positive association with Somerset
CCC.”
We are one of the UK’s leading providers
of hydraulic, pneumatic and electronic
components and systems.
