game! We are indebted to our team
of qualified coaches who run the
coaching sessions and manage the
sides, we need more.
“Our view is that if young
players are good enough they are old
enough. We encourage those with
the ability to play in the adult teams
so that they gain the experience they
need at an early age. Making the
leap from 20 overs to 40 overs can be
quite a challenge but they are up for
it.
“We are certainly a community
club, we have links with local
schools and sponsorship from local
companies. We feel we can do
more, in particular to extend our
connections with the local Asian
community.
“The popularity of cricket with
the youngsters is key, so awareness
and publicity is vital at national and
local level. In my view, the Colts
cricket season is far too short when
compared to other sports and this
needs careful thought.
“It is our ambition to become an
established top Kent Cricket League
Club with a thriving Colt section.
We want to continue to provide
the opportunity for cricketers of all
ages to participate. We are trialling
softball with the ladies this summer
and hope to build on this in the
coming years.”
