“We are major electronics distributors to industry
and I live in close proximity to the cricket ground. I’ve
sponsored the club for five years; my company logo is
on the front of the shirts. My other big involvement with
the club is the annual Chearsley Classic and Vintage
Fun Day which takes place at the cricket ground on
September 15th this year. They are a great village club
and have a fantastic youth set-up. Good luck for the
season!” - Andrew Yorke

The club has benefitted from
donations and support a number of
local benefactors in addition to the
Heybrook family. Local businesses,
such as Blotter, Rectory Homes,
Notley Farm, RGL Surveys, Sensor
Centre, K-Sera, Village Pest Control
and CarCleaned support the club in
a variety of ways, and all see a real
benefit in their association with a
prized community asset.
The
club’s
fundraising
programme of social events has
also provided a valuable source of
funds to ensure the maintenance and
development of club facilities. Over
the years, these have included quiz
nights and many other social events.
In November 2017, former England
captain, Mike Gatting, joined the
club’s annual ‘End of Season Dinner
Dance’ for what was a memorable
evening. In addition, the club also
has around twenty Vice Presidents
who continue to provide invaluable
financial support for the club.

If you have a vintage or classic vehicle that you would
like to show in the fantastic setting of Chearsley village
cricket ground in Buckinghamshire we would love to
hear from you.
Now in its’ eighth year this event has grown substantially
since its creation with in excess of 300 vehicles taking
part in last years event. Once again we are expecting
a fly past by the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight
during the afternoon but there will also be live music,
a fun fair, food stalls, bar and of course some fantastic
motorbikes, cars, commercial and farm vehicles.
All monies raised from the classic and vintage fun day
will go towards the Chearsley Cricket Club Junior
Section. Show entry and parking is still free!

The club hosts a ‘Classic Car
Show’ in September at the end of
the season. This event, now in its
8th year, has grown from strength
to strength. In 2018, around 250
‘classic’ vehicles attended the show,
which also included a Hurricane
flypast, courtesy of the Battle of
Britain Memorial Flight, and a wide
range of entertainments including
a fairground, arts and craft stalls,
live music and lots to eat and drink.
This year the show will take place on
Sunday 15th September and over 300
vehicles are expected to attend.
“A particular challenge in recent
years has been recruiting sufficient
numbers of senior players to support
our requirement to provide a 1st
and 2nd XI to play in the Cherwell
League,” said Chairman, Ian
Houseman.
“I believe this is a problem
currently being experienced by many
junior clubs such as ourselves. I am
happy to say that our club members
got behind a major recruitment drive
during the close season. We believe
that ‘word of mouth’ about ‘the
Chearsley cricket experience’ is our
most powerful recruitment weapon.
We went into the 2019 season with
a significantly larger pool of players
and, as a result, have enjoyed the best
start to the season for many years. We
have also placed great importance in
the development of Junior cricket at
Chearsley,” said Ian.
The club has a thriving Juniors
section, with membership of around
ninety youngsters. The objective is to
provide healthy outdoor activity for
the growing number of youngsters
in our village and surrounding area,
and to develop players who’ll want to
play for the senior sides in the future.
Several of the current 1st XI started in
the Junior section and once again this
season, a number of youngsters will
begin the transition to senior cricket.
Just a few years ago, the club
mainly had boys playing in its Junior
