COUNTY CRICKET CLUB
Founded in 1863, The Yorkshire CCC is one of the most successful cricket clubs in the world
and does a fantastic job of providing for everyone in the region. Cricket Club Magazine
recently caught up with Club Representative Andy Dawson to find out more about the good
work they’ve been doing lately.
Atmosphere
He told us, “It is a very exciting time for the club at the
moment with the Cricket World Cup underway and we
also have a busy domestic season in the T20 competition
before moving on to the Ashes where we have the third
test match. We’re going well in the County Championship
so far and are very pleased with how things are going.”
Present
“We understand that players such as Joe Root are
contracted with England and so will be unavailable so
have been able to plan for them not being around. It gives
a great opportunity for some of the younger players who
have been performing so well in the 2nd XI to show what
they can do in the first team. A couple of players have
really stepped up so it is a very exciting time for us at the
moment as I think we have a very well balanced squad.”
Community
“Our community department has grown from one
person to eighteen in seven years and is built upon the
four core themes of health and wellbeing, education,
heritage and participation. It has been a fantastic year
for the Yorkshire Cricket Foundation and they are now
engaging with more people across the community than
ever before.”
