Northamptonshire Northamptonshire COUNTY CRICKET CLUB Northamptonshire CCC has been working hard in recent years to provide cricket to their community and have been making tremendous progress in recent times. Cricket Club Magazine recently caught up with Club Representative Callum Berrill to find out more. Callum told us, “The mood is very positive at the club at the moment; having had a change in the captaincy last month the players are looking to make progress in the championship and T20 competitions. “Youth development is huge for us; we have an Academy Director who does a great job here and we look to provide both the boys and girls that are involved with a clear simple pathway into senior cricket.” The T20 season is starting a little later than usual due to the World Cup but we’re hoping to get off to a good start and then see where we can go from there. Obviously, everyone is very excited about the World Cup win and we followed it closely. Patricia Hankins told us more about the girls section, saying, “Our girls section has grown massively over the last few years. I remember when I first started coaching we’d struggle to put out an U17s however we now have a squad of fifteen. We introduced our U11s three seasons ago and some of those players have already made their debuts for the first team so we have lots of opportunities for them and want to continue to grow.” Patricia also told us more about the successful women’s side, telling us, “The women have finished their fifty over campaign, winning their division and going unbeaten so we were delighted with that. We started our T20 campaign recently and are hoping to add another title. I think the key for us has been training hard all through the winter. We worked hard on strength and conditioning as well as improving the technical side of www.sportip.biz 19
