Gloucestershire FOLLOW US ONLINE TWITTER.COM/CRICKETCLUBMAG “The academy has nine players in from age 15 to 19. They are good players who have one eye on perhaps making a living from the game. Overall, I oversee boys performance cricket. This is made up of twelve district squads from U11 to U13s and eleven age group teams from U10s to U19s.” Experience “Being a former Gloucestershire cricketer does help as there is a bit of kudos being an ex-player. It is important though that I remember what it was like trying to make my way in the game. We have some skilful young players, however It is the character and mindset of the player which can set them apart. I really try to instil in players that side of things.” Community “The GCB are very active in the community, working hard to get the game out to more people. Lisa Pagett has worked very hard in establishing the women’s game in the region. The game is being played at all levels and also in private schools which is great.” Ambitions “The club need to remain competitive at the top level. There is a gap opening up between big clubs and smaller ones. We need to work hard to remain in that middle band of clubs who can hold on to their good players and then we can see Gloucestershire players playing for England.” “Our Nephew George Hankins plays for Gloucestershire CCC and around four years ago we requested to sponsor George. We get to as many games as possible, mainly T-20 games but also take staff and clients down to games to use the club’s hospitality when we can. George’s brother, Harry, also plays for the Academy at Gloucestershire CCC so we have a great connection with the club in our family. Gloucestershire CCC have been fantastic in giving back to partners and associates of the club and always make us feel very welcome. From all of us here at KITco Work & Sportswear we would like to wish George and all at Gloucestershire CCC all the very best and best of luck for the season ahead.” David Hallett 18 Issue 50
