COUNTY CRICKET CLUB
If a cricket club is to be successful over a sustained period of time it
is vital that they produce their own talent and this is an area in which
Gloucestershire CCC invest a lot of time and effort. Cricket Club
Magazine recently caught up with their Head of Talent Pathway, Tim
Hancock to find out more.
Present
Tim told us, “From a development
point of view things are going well.
Getting good young players on the
park and playing the game is always
a positive experience regardless of
the result. We have some really good
young players in our pathway and
our teams compete well.
It’s a really good time to be
involved in developing young
players. More investment into this
16 Issue 50
area via the County Partnership
Agreement means we can put
more resources into high quality
coaching and competition. I will be
planning how to make this happen
effectively.”
Youth
Youth development is very
important to us. Young players are
the future. These players will be
playing at and running our clubs,
coaching their children and so it
goes on. Gloucestershire needs to
help instil their love for the game.
Everyone one is different and things
are rarely smooth when integrating
players into the senior game.
Enjoyment is key for all players. If
they aren’t enjoying it they probably
won’t carry on playing. Young
players need to find their level.”
