Sussex “Republic of Music first got involved with Sussex CCC around four years ago when we took out a corporate box at the club. I’m a big cricket fan myself and we get down to as many games as possible and also take some of our staff and clients down to use the club’s hospitality. Sussex CCC is a local club to us and we are encouraged by the work the club is doing in our local community which has been fantastic. Jofra Archer has been a great player for us over the last few years and it’s great to see him representing England in the ICC World Cup. From all of us here at Republic of Music we would like to say keep the faith and keep up the great work you are all doing and keep the kids coming through the club as they are our future.” Mark McQuillan Youth “Developing young players is a major focus for us. It is vital to have homegrown players; we feel like we have a lot of talent coming through so it is important to give them a chance to play and that is our focus ahead of making marquee signings. We have a lot of talent here and our focus is on nurturing that and giving them a chance to play first team cricket. We also work to establish a passion for the game amongst young people in the county with a lot of work being carried out in the community.” The Future “Five years from now, the strategy is very much as discussed, to be one of the leading lights in the women’s game with competitive men’s and women’s teams. We want participation through the county to be as high as possible and for homegrown talent to be at the core of our first teams. We also have ambitious ground development plans which are at the consultation stage at the moment with the aim being to be to improve our conferencing and events facilities, retaining our current character while making it a first-class hosting venue and that is a huge focus for us. To summarise, we want to offer world class facilities with successful teams supported by a thriving amateur and youth scene. It is an exciting time to be involved with the club and this really is a time where it feels like we are at the start of something special which will see us develop as a major part of the cricketing landscape in this country for many years to come.” “I am the Head of Cricket at Hurst College and our relationship with Sussex CCC has mainly been on a coaching basis. A number of ex pros have worked with us delivering our cricket programme. As a result, many Academy players at Sussex CCC have come through our School. Hurst College currently sponsor the Blackstone Academy Ground at Sussex CCC which has been a partnership that is now entering its 4th year. We all try and get down to as many games as we can and also take some staff and juniors down to use the hospitality at the club. Our women’s pro, Chiara Green, currently plays for Sussex CCC women’s first team too. All of us here at Hurst are very proud of our relationship with Sussex CCC and we will continue to encourage all those involved with the cricket programme to support the game in this county whether that be through playing or supporting. From all of us here at Hurst College we would like to wish everyone at Sussex CCC all the very best and we will continue to support the club wherever we can.” Nick Creed www.sportip.biz 13
