The “enosi” took place on December 1, 1913, and marks a historical turning point for both the island of Crete, as well as for all of Greece. The significance of this date is immeasurable. The University of Illinois here in Chicago is putting together a symposium to educate both Greeks and non-Greeks alike on the background and history of the enosi, set to take place on the evening of Wednesday, November 13, at the university. The youth will be streaming this lecture live on our website, www.pancretan-youth.org, and we encourage all members of both the PYA and the PAA to watch this symposium and learn more about this significant moment in the history of our beautiful island! In addition to the lecture on the history of the enosi, many of our chapters are celebrating locally.
