014 is the 150th anniversary of the birth of Elefthe- »
rios Venizelos. The National Institute for Research
and Studies “Eleftherios Venizelos” has initiated a program of activities dedicated to the great statesman, in-.
cluding musicals, audiovisual presentations and educational programs at schools.
Special attention will be given to the European Venizelos, promoting his role at the critical times of world

To this point the National Institute for Research and
Studies plans on printing a 150-page biography in Eng,

lish and French, which will include many historical pho- ,
tographs. To. achieve this, the institute needs to collect
funds from the public and private domain through a

fundraising campaign. They are looking for chapters to
,
pre-purchase a number of copies and make them available to individuals. The cost is as follows:

έσα στά πλαίσια τών εκδηλώσεων γιά τήν επέτειo
τών εκατό χρόνων από τήν ένωση τής Κρήτης

μέ τήν Ελλάδα έλαβαν χώρα διάφορες εκδηλώσεις.
Στήν πόλη τής Νέας. Υόρκης, οι εκδηλώσεις αυτές
) διοργανώθηκαν από τήν Παγκρητική Ένωση Αμερικής
καί τήν εκπαιδευτική καί πολιτιστική επιτροπή τών
,
Κρητικών συλλόγων New York and New Jersey.
Η εμπνευσθήσα τίς δύο από τίς εκδηλώσεις αυτές,
είναι η κυρία Ελένη Μουσουράκη-Νάκης, μέλος
τού συλλόγου Κρησσών Νέας Υόρκης «Πασιφάη »
Σύμβουλος του Pancretan Endowment Fund (PEF)
,
και πρώην Εκτελεστική Διευθύντρια τών γυναικείων
συλλόγων τής. Παγκρητικής Ένωσης Αμερικής.
Η κα Νάκης γιά πέντε ολόκληρους μήνες εργάστηκε
σκληρά πέραν τών δυνάμεων της καί αφού πέρασε όλη τή
γραφειοκρατία τής πόλης και πολιτείας τής Νέας Υόρκης
.
κατάφερε νά πάρει τήν άδεια γιά τήν εκδήλωση όνειρο.

τηρηθεί κάθε λεπτομέρεια, τήν Κυριακή 8 Δεκεμβρίου
2013, μετά από τόν εκκλησιασμό μας στόν Καθεδρικό
ναό τής Αγίας Τριάδας στό Manhattan, βρεθήκαμε στό
Battery Park όπου δύο πολύ συμβολικές τελετές έγιναν
πραγματικότης.
Κατα πρώτον ένα δάφνινο στεφάνι εναποτέθηκε στά

νερά τού ποταμού Hudson, ακριβώς απέναντι από τό
άγαλμα τής Ελευθερίας καί μπροστά από τό μνημείο τού
Β΄Παγκοσμίου πολέμου. Το στεφάνι αυτό ήταν πρός τιμή
