Friendship afternoon
Welcome from the Principal
I am delighted to welcome you to the third
edition of The Crest Academy magazine. This
term has again proved to be incredibly successful
and it is with great pride I bring you many of
these triumphs from the last term, whilst also
looking ahead to the exciting future.
For those that have heard about it already please excuse me, but I think it is worth
reiterating the findings from our latest Ofsted report because it highlights the special
journey that everyone at Crest has been on. The inspectors rated us ‘Good’ in every
category, recognising the hard work and dedication of both staff and students. Add
to this the confirmation of some our best-ever exam results and you can see we are
on our way to overcoming our next challenge – to be ‘Outstanding’.
We have begun our annual transition programme for current Year 6 pupils who
will be joining us in September 2017. The first event was held early in March and
we look forward to welcoming both pupils and their families to The Crest Academy
later this year. We will continue collaborating with local primary schools in the
coming school terms to ensure transition to secondary school is as seamless and
enjoyable for all our new students.
At The Crest Academy, we ensure our vision is at the heart of everything we do:
‘Every student ready for university, every student a leader’. We recognise that
preparation for life after school is more than just exam results. This is why staff are
dedicated to helping all of our students to become well-rounded individuals by
offering as many opportunities and enrichment activities as possible. This edition
provides an insight into some of these, including a chance for students to meet
an England international thanks to our partnership with England Rugby, and an
upcoming debate competition at the Houses of Parliament.
I am incredibly proud of how far The Crest Academy has come. I hope you enjoy
sharing our successes and I can assure you there are many more to come. Should
you want to find out more, please do not hesitate to contact us and book a tour of
our outstanding facilities or a personal meeting.
Mr Mohsen Ojja, Principal
This March, we held a Friendship
Afternoon for local primary school
pupils who will be joining us in
September 2017. Pupils and their
families took part in fun-filled activities
at the Academy, enjoying an exciting
afternoon of Science, Art and PE
challenges, and were provided an
insight into what their educational
experience will be like here at Crest.
The Friendship Afternoon forms part
of our unique transition programme,
providing future Crest students and
their parents with the opportunity
to meet key members of staff, future
classmates and other families.
We are thrilled to welcome so many
new families into our community and
delighted to see so many pupils excited
about joining us later in the year.
Our transition programme continues
throughout the summer term, ensuring
a personalised learning experience
and enjoyable, seamless transition from
primary to secondary education come
September.

events or to arrange a tour of the
Academy, please contact our office

Medieval
Week
As part of our continuous
efforts to build strong
relationships with our local
primary schools, The Crest
Academy rolled back the
centuries to host ‘Medieval
Week’.
A range of creatively themed
workshops were designed to
complement Year 6 pupils’
SATs preparation, in subjects
across the curriculum. Pupils
chose from practical Science
lessons and medieval sports
to performing folk tales and
designing their own shield.
Mr Zabielski delivered an
exciting English workshop, in
which pupils wrote medieval
ballads that the ‘peasants’ would
recount and protest towards
the ‘King’. It was great to watch
the winning group perform on
stage with Mr Cahill and see so
many actively engaged pupils
enjoy their experience at The
Crest Academy.
