Fiddler on the Roof, The Drowsy Chaperone, Cabaret, and Twelfth Night. Before that, though, he did minimal acting, only having done two shows before starting high school. He was seven, and they were fun.
There are so many perks that come with playing a character as grand as the Beast. For Ian, the best part is being able to do the deep “Beast voice.” Another great aspect of the part is the songs that Christoffersen gets to sing. His favorite one is “If I Can’t Love Her,” which is at the end of act one. We can quote him as saying, “It’s so good. I love it.”
Siobhan Nelson is a senior here at Silver Creek, and is very excited for Beauty and the Beast to be her first production. Nelson is a dancer in the show, taking a big part as both a wolf and a napkin. She started dancing when she was only three years old, and has been dancing ever since. Nelson reported that she is excited to join the theatre community, but is also nervous. “...It’s already a community, and it’s hard to, like, jump in on it when you haven’t really been around those people for four years until now.”
around those people for four years until now.”
When we asked Nelson what she’s excited for about dancing in the show, she responded with “I’m excited to start dancing again and… doing something creative but also physical.” The dancers are a crucial part of any production, and they are especially important for this show, with intense dance numbers like the wolf chase, and “Be Our Guest.”
At this point, only the beginning stages of the production have taken place. Just because it’s only in the baby stages doesn’t mean that nothing is happening. As of now, the actors are working hard to memorise this grand musical’s complex monologues and quick passages, the dancers are working hard to learn the choreography for the crazy complicated dances, and the chorus is working to hit the high notes, low notes, and all notes in between. With the amount of work going into this grandiose experience, we can only hope that each and every reader will come out and be our guest!
