Starting November 30th against Thompson Valley, the Silver Creek girls swimming team looks to swim their way to another conference championship. Seniors Jenny Weygandt, Nikki Schlegel, Brandi Vu, and Emma Pearson look to build upon their success of last year. Last season was highlighted by a medley victory where they earned a school record time of 1:50:08. In case you aren’t familiar with swimming medleys, they are comprised of 4 swimmers who complete a 50 meter backstroke, 50 meter breast, 50 meter fly, and 50 meter free. It is one of the most challenging events at a meet, but the Raptors are confident in their abilities. A strong graduating class won’t hinder the Raptors as they have hopes for yet another conference championship, led by coach Debbie Stewart. Over the course of the season, they will compete in 12 events: 3 relays, 8 individual, and diving against other northern conference schools. If you are looking to support the team, come watch them compete at Centennial Pool (across the street from Skyline). We’re all holding our breath in anticipation for this season.
