AGM13/15 Treasurer’s Report
98
The Treasurer’s Report was presented by Bro. Garvin Roberts. Bro. Roberts highlighted various areas of improved
performance by the GPSCCU as compared to a model credit union. He implored on members the need to honour
their commitment to the credit union and pay back when they borrow. He then encouraged the membership to
make the GPSCCU their primary financial institution and invest in the Credit Union through the purchase of equity
shares.
He then invited questions and discussions from the floor.
Explanations were sought as to the interest on short term borrowings and savings with other institutions. The
Chairman reported that normally the interest on investments tend to be 6%. Bro. De Allie reported that one
of the policy decisions of the Credit Union was to invest in other Credit Unions. Bro. Charles, the Finance and
Operations manager, further clarified that the savings held with other institutions were in accordance with the
liquidity requirements as stipulated in the Act. He also reported that during the year 2012, the overdraft was not
utilized and as a result no interest was paid on it.
