Publisher’s Note
Dear Readers,
We are glad to present you an upgraded and
redesigned version of Creature Companion
magazine, which we believe, will appeal to
pet parents and business readers alike.
The eleventh edition of India International Pet
Trade Fair (IIPTF) concluded on August 25
with a phenomenal response from national
and international exhibitors, business visitors
and pet parents. This review edition covers
major highlights of the B2B Exhibition, the
3rd Aquagic display, and the first edition of
the Indian Pet Industry Dialogue (IPID) and
the Indian Pet Industry Awards (IPIA). Also
included was a Feline Convention by the
Feline Club of India and seminars on Dog
Breeding and Grooming.
Some new segments are being introduced in
this issue that would become regular features
henceforth. The ‘News & Happenings’
section will cover all recent news in the
Petcare Industry – from products launches to
festive offers and store openings.
Owning a pet is not just a privilege - it
comes with great responsibility. Pet owners
should never shy away from their basic duty
of managing their pet’s behaviour. We are
introducing the ‘Responsible Pet Ownership’
segment to address etiquette issues related
to pets such as consideration for the
environment, training your pet to understand
obedience and the nuances of socialisation
with pets.
According to global research and data,
India is the fastest growing petcare market
in the world. This largely untapped market
offers a bunch of opportunities to young
entrepreneurs, business owners, and
industry experts. We are starting a new
segment – ‘Pawssion for Pets’ which will
chronicle the journey of many Indian pet
start-ups, narrated by the entrepreneurs who
founded them. This section will focus on the
pet industry as a lucrative career path and
will provide practical advice on everything
from development of the business idea to the
IIPTF & Creature Companion
strategies employed to stay ahead of
competition.
The Indian pet retail segment is
witnessing unparalleled growth with
the mushrooming of retail chains like
DogMyCats, Heads Up For Tails, Just
Dogs and Bonbeno and e-portals
such as Chew Central, Dog Spot and
Petsutra. With many new players
entering the pet retail market and
pet shops springing up every two
kilometres in major metropolitan cities,
it becomes indispensible for young
entrepreneurs and pet shop owners to
master the tricks of the trade in this
dog-eat-dog world. With this agenda
in mind, Creature Companion is
introducing the ‘Pet Speciality Retail’
segment from the October issue to
touch upon Retail Management basics
from Visual Merchandising and Staff
Training to increasing ROI and Shelf
Management in pet shops.
We hope that these new sections prove
to be useful to our valuable
patrons and readers. On our
part, we will continue to
provide you the best updates
into pet care management
and industry insights to
keep you ahead of the
rest.
Happy Reading!
