Unlike other success stories, in this story there were no three
best friends; neither did they meet up over a cup of steaming
coff ee, nor did they all cry out ‘idea’ in harmony.
Th is is a story that includes a dog named Harley. Harley was
a happy pup and a beloved member of his family. One day (in
the year 2011), it was brought to their notice that Harley had
a physical disorder called Hip Dysplasia. His daddy (human
parent) couldn’t see him in pain and thus to seek the help he
approached best of veterinary clinics across length and breadth
of the country. During that situation, his daddy had a deep
insight on how careless and insensitive most veterinary clinics
are to animals; besides, it was money that mattered. He realized
that lives of pets in India are left with a few responsible hands,
and in most of the times pet owners fail to determine which ones
are the best. Fortunately, Harley was somehow cured.
Th is experience gave daddy a thought to revise the system of the
Indian Pet Care industry that runs with ignorance, carelessness,
and misguidance and to do away with them. He had to be part of
the industry; hence he invested in a start-up.
According to Reddy, “Aft er extensive researches, we are now
associated with brands that manufacture fi ne products with
utmost dedication for animal kind and while doing so, we have
found phenomenal success and growth.”
Pets101 is thus the aft ermath of the story and is the handiwork
of Mr. Arunodaya Reddy. Th e company strives to educate
and impart knowledge about pet health care (treatments and
products) and also to equip pet parents with all the right aids,
products, and services. Pets101 believe that they are accountable to their customers;
and with the vision to eradicate the prevalent atmosphere of
ignorance amidst pet parents, they wish to educate them on pet
rearing.
While inaugurating our fi rst pet store, in 2012, we realized that
in India there are a few products of good quality. Quality always
took a back seat in the fi ght for higher margins in the Indian
market- no brands, no brand value. Hence, we wanted to bring
in a change to the pet healthcare situation. Reddy adds, “In pursuing this idealistic goal, we have also made
sure that we fi rst are prepared with the right information and
knowledge before we impart it to others. We are invested deeply
in our beliefs and thus we choose brands and products based on
our vast experience and learning.”
It all came together with the fi rst trip to the Shanghai fair
which displayed availability of innumerable pet care
products in other countries. Pets101 is now proudly in partner
with a good number of prestigious pet product brands from
across the globe. Th is success story doesn’t end here, Harley & me, based in
Chennai, is a boarding centre for dogs that off ers not just luxury
boarding in clean, air-conditioned, spotless cubicles, but also a
vet-certifi ed swimming pool, a grooming studio, a resting room
for the pet owners, 24/7 CCTV, full-time employees, a boarding
manager and a doctor on call, basic fi rst-aid facilities and can
accommodate 35 dogs.
Th e constant strive to bring every pet owner the best products
for their four-legged children fi nally paid off .
Pets101 became a part of the import industry with the primary
motif to tie up with global brands in order to get the best of pet
care products for our furry friends. It is believed that they had

been scouting for brands that manufacture quality products,
keeping pets’ interest at fi rst and have the same mission to
keep up the quality to provide the best to animals/pets all
over the world; brands who believed in quality over quantity
and dedicated to educate pet owners instead of taking unfair
advantage of their unawareness.
