Homonym & Metonymy
A homonym is, in the strict sense, one of a
group of words that share spelling and
pronunciation but may have different
meanings. . The state of being a homonym
is called homonymy.
Metonymy is a figure of speech in which
one word or phrase is substituted for
another with which it is closely
associated.
affect - change
effect – result or consequence
berry – fruit from a bush
bury – to put underground
