Imaginative inspiration seems to occur often during
train or bus trips, or in the bathroom, both
situations, which by their monotony can produce a
state of self-absorption, conducive to creative
trance. In those states of consciousness, the
barriers that oppose the unconscious fall and
fantasy and imagination are given free rein.
In general, the techniques range from poorly
structured to highly structured. An example of a
highly structured technique is TRIZ, unlike
techniques such as brainstorming, which is based
on the generation of random ideas, lateral thinking
and heuristic recipes. Then, these techniques are
complemented with other learning techniques such
as: classification of ideas, concept maps, mind
maps (mind mappings), selection of ideas,
quantification of ideas, and ishikawa diagrams.
