Treacle Wool Shop is owned by Kym and Claire, Morpeth Mumpreneurs with a passion for knitting. The shop, which opened in October 2009, is situated in a gorgeous location, right next to the River Wansbeck in the pretty market town of Morpeth in Northumberland. The shop itself is in a characterful old building next door to The Chantry (built around 1296!) which houses the Tourist Office and Craft Centre.
We pride ourselves on excellent customer service and strive to be community-led and regularly run events and projects to include our local knitters. We stock something for all budgets from baby 4 ply to 100% alpaca, and offer a wide choice to inspire your knitting projects! We have a wide range of gift items, produced by local crafters ranging from knitting bags to corsages.
We run a monthly Knit2gether, support local knitting groups such as Morpeth Library, provide a lay by service, commission bespoke knits and so much more.
We also love a challenge - if you are having trouble sourcing something, give us a call and we will try to help!
Workshops & Courses
Book onto one of our specialist workshops - from Beginner's Knitting to Finishing Techniques. We pride ourselves on offering comprehensive and informative workshops, and ensure your time with us is fulfilling and relaxing. Our current programme is listed below. Level 1 is for complete beginners, Level 2 is for the next steps. Places are limited to a maximum of 10 - pre-booking is essential. If you would like more information, please get in touch.
Workshops can be booked through the Online Shop or over the phone 01670 504045. Workshop payments are non-refundable although you can substitute someone to take your place (please let us know beforehand).
Some materials may be required for certain workshops. Refreshments are provided – on the full day workshops you need to bring your lunch. You get 10% off all purchases made on the day.
