MİMAR SİNAN
Turkish architect of the 16th century, born in 1489 in Kayseri and died in 1578. It was the most important architect of Constantinople during the Ottoman Empire. His main works were the mosques, which took the Byzantine basilica of Hagia Sophia as a model. They introduced a modification in plants consisting of placing a central dome on a drum and around other small, with which the axial was lost. It remataría the corners of these temples with four minarets.
Most of his architectural work was made as the court architect under the reign of Suleimanthe magnificent, Selim II and Murad III, in the most glorious time of the Ottoman Empire, which allowed him to perform some of the best examples of the architecture of this culture. Thus became the Grandmaster of later generations and the true symbol of the art of this period.
