Hello Madeline, thank you so much for getting in touch with us here at CPM We are honoured you want to support & be part of Disabled Models Campaign & welcome you to a new & exciting campaign exclusive to CPM in aid of Muscular Dystrophy UK Charity. As a Disabled Model myself, I am in awe of all you have achieved.... We look forward to welcoming you back! What made you first become a model ? In 2015 we were at a fashion parade with my mum, when I saw the girls on the catwalk I knew I wanted to be a model instantly so I asked mum, I had always loved being in the spotlight, and I knew at that moment I wanted to get up on the catwalk then and there, I had no hesitation. After the parade, mum explained that if I wanted to be a model I would have to keep on the healthy eating schedule I had started earlier that year to keep up with my dance troupe as models work very hard and are very fit. Nine months later, we were off to see a professional photographer. I was super excited to do her first photo shoot. How did you feel when you did your first ever fashion show or photo shoot ? My first photoshoot was amazing, I felt like a princess getting my hair and make-up perfectly done, mum had helped me do it previously but it had never looked this good before. The shoot was so much fun, I dressed in 4 different outfits and did all sorts of poses including jumping on a mini tramp. About 2 months after my shoot I was asked to go to NY and do a fashion show for Sabre Inc. raising money for Auto Immune diseases, now this was something else, everyone was so supportive and when I walked on the catwalk for the first time I felt like I was the most important person in the room, everyone was cheering and clapping, my mum cried she was so proud. Who was your role model as a child an how did that help in being a model ? My mum has always been my role model, she has always been there for me and worked very hard to support me and give me a wonderful life, she is still with me every step of the way. She has given me the courage to believe in myself and has always told me I could be anything I wanted to be. What did your parent/s first think of you being a model and where they supportive? Mum says she always knew that I was going to do something special, she tells everyone how she thinks I have this gift to make people feel at ease and I light up the room. She says I put the sunshine into the grey. She has always supported me. Credit Irina Smirnova Photography
