What is the name and type of sport?
Surfing
What encouraged you to give it a go?
Since my teens I have always wanted to learn to surf, and finally decided this year was the year I would learn. I saw that Learn to Surf Waipu Cove had a ‘Women’s Yoga & Surf Day’ – which I had heard great things about, so really I had to go!
What equipment di you need?
Surf board and wetsuit (provided)
How long did the lesson/game take?
The day was 9am through to 2pm, but this included a yoga session, beautiful morning tea, surf lesson and a delicious lunch at The Cove.
What muscles did you feel got a work out?
Definitely a full body workout, as to get up on the board, it is a “burpee with a twist”.
What was the most difficult part?
I loved it, and thought the instructors did a great job at showing us how to get up, which I managed to do early on in the lesson, so I don’t think there was a difficult part – well, now its just working on becoming a pro, right?! haha
How many others were in the class?
I think there were 16 beginners on the day for our group.
What level of fitness was everyone at/ what ages?
A good age range and fitness levels.
How easy was it for absolute beginners?
Awesome for total beginners!
Will you be going again?
Most definitely! Already planned my next surf mission. What an fun sport, loved it!
