Hammond Motors was initially established as a Mobile Mechanic in 1989.
In 1994 Grant progressed to fixed premises in Kaikohe, where Hammond Motors operated for over 21 years.
In 2009 Grant and Irene relocated Hammond Motors to their home town of Kaitaia as an authorised Nissan and Hyundai Parts & Service Agent of which they won Parts & Service Agent of the Year Award in 2009, 2010 and 2012
As at the 1st November 2015 Hammond Motors changed their business strategy and became an authorised Ford & Mazda Service & Parts Agent.
The Hammond Motors team live by their slogan, ‘Keeping it Local’. It has always been very important for owner operators, Grant and Irene, to get involved in their local community. The couple grew up in Kaitaia and they intend on supporting it!
Hammond Motors has established partnerships with local sporting clubs that provide support to juniors, seniors and young players in the area.
Hammond Motors also sponsors and attend the annual North Hokianga and Kaitaia A&P Shows. Sponsor the Taipa Stock Cars and local school galas. Sponsor and attend the annual Taipa Vintage Car Show of which some beautiful old cars come all the way up from Wanganui to take part.

Grant has been in the motoring industry for over 36 years.
Completed his apprenticeship at Northland Motors (Ford) in Kaitaia,
Moved to Kaikohe into the role of workshop foreman at Fairhall Motors (Ford)
1989 he established himself as a mobile mechanic
1994 officially set up Hammond Motors in Kaikohe
2007 Hammond Motors became an authorised Hyundai Parts & Service Agent in Kaikohe and then an authorised Hyundai and Nissan Parts & Service Agent in Kaitaia
2015 Hammond Motors became an authorised Ford and Mazda (no longer Hyundai & Nissan)

Irene has worked in administration for over 34 years
Has been integral in the management of Hammond Motors for over 28 years
Works full time at a local accountant’s firm, but still does the admin side of Hammond Motors after work hours and on weekends
