The basics
There are simple things every car owner should know before driving on their own.
Learning how to check the tyre pressure is just as important as learning how to change a tyre. Tyres that do not have the proper air pressure wear out much faster. Be proactive about the basics of your car’s maintenance to reduce costs and keep your car running longer.
Every car owner should know their car, and the basics of maintaining it. It’s easier to stay calm during emergencies when you know what you are doing, even if it is only a little bit. A small amount of knowledge can go a long way.
Watch your fluids
Most of the time, you can go about 5000-10,000 kms, or six months without changing your oil. Even with this, the oil should be checked every time you fill up with petrol. Oil isn’t the only fluid that should be checked often on your car. Here are the others that need to be checked often:
-Antifreeze
-Transmission fluid
-Brake fluid
-Steering fluid
-Washer fluid
Everybody can learn how to check these. Car owners who know how will be able to determine for themselves what exactly is wrong with their vehicle. You may still have to take it to a professional, but at least you will have the pride in telling your mechanic exactly what is wrong.
