HUMAN ART OF DISCOURSE
For more than ten years , Philosophy Slams have been an integral part of the liberal arts foundation at Jacksonville University . Across campus , these slams are known for their engaging and stimulating conversations on pressing global , national , and state issues and contemporary social topics .
“ The goal of the philosophy slams is to generate thoughtful discussion of controversial issues in a fun and relaxed atmosphere where students feel comfortable sharing opinions , asking questions , and confronting disagreement ,” said Dr . Bacallao was recently recognized as the 2023 Student Woman of the Year and is a graduating senior with a double major in French and Spanish and a triple minor in Philosophy , Ethics and Leadership , and Naval Science . Bacallao attends every slam she can .
