critical thinkers , we must develop relationships that not only serve Stein College but also the University and the greater Jacksonville region ,” he insists . “ We need to be a resource , blur the distinctions between town and gown , extend beyond the campus walls and invite the community in .”
Engineering spaces are interspersed with animation spaces , giving rise to the same sort of watercooler conversations that happen in the real world ,” Snyder observes . “ Artists and engineers need to be able to understand one another and our strategic plan to develop pedagogy that serve the scholars of today and tomorrow demonstrates our recognition of that need .”
Interacting with the surrounding community is equally important , Snyder notes . An active member of the Board of Directors for Jacksonville ’ s Cathedral Arts Project , the Jacksonville Symphony , and the Cultural Council of Greater Jacksonville , Snyder has witnessed firsthand the arts ’ ability to transform communities . “ In order to succeed in our efforts to educate the next generation of artists , scholars and
