MATERIALS: • Paper towel tubes • Scissors • Paper plates • Black paper • Acrylic paint – in all colors glitter or metallic paints work well DIRECTIONS: 1. Cutting: Start by cutting your long paper tube into smaller sections to paint with. Cut one in half and one in thirds. Then cut strips on one end of your paper tube. You can simply cut slits or cut out zig-zags for a pointed look. 2. Paint Prep: Add paint to your paper plate and press your paper tube stamp into the paint. Swirl your paper tube around to make sure you get enough paint on each strip. 3. Design: Stamp your painted paper tube onto the black paper to make a “firework” shape. You can press it down a couple of times if you’d like or just once to see what stamp it makes. Dip it in the paint again and stamp once more on your paper. Continue until you have the look of fireworks you would like. You can also paint a few different colors on top of one another. FUN TIPS: Use a different paper tube stamp for each color to avoid mixing. Try Double Stamping to make multi-color fireworks. You can also dip your tubes into a few different colors, side by side or on top of one another. We also made one of our fireworks into what we call the “finale”! It has all the colors and all the shapes just like a regular firework show! 16
