MFA : in the Works is an exhibition of in-progress works by Master of Fine Arts in Visual Arts candidates in the Linda Berry Stein College of Fine Arts at Jacksonville University . This body of work is produced during the summer intensive residency and reflects investigation of thesis content through a diversity of practices .

Bill Davis : No Dark in Sight
No Dark in Sight conveys how artificial light manages culture as a dystopian condition rewriting our relationship to darkness . Focused on foresight intelligence and the biosphere , Davis asks viewers to consider their relationship to manufactured light . Bright nights are unsustainable . Davis shows us how and why .

Kristin Skees : Close Knit
Close Knit combines traditional portraiture photography , conceptual knitting , and a love of the unexpected and absurd . Like an ill-fitting handmade sweater , the cozies explore the construction of identity , and represent the ways in which our closest relationships can often walk the fine line between loving and smothering .

Regardless of political affiliation , all Americans believe that our country can be better than it is . Unfortunately , in some instances the Constitution limits our ability to make improvements and address problems fundamentally . In other instances , the Constitution itself is the problem . Is it time for the US to consider a new Constitution ?

Orchestra Fanfare Concert
The Jacksonville University Orchestra opens the season with a stirring performance of Beethoven ’ s Piano Concerto No . 4 in G major with Dr . Scott Watkins as soloist . The concert will also feature Emilie Mayer ’ s dramatic Faust Overture and Maurice Ravel ’ s delightful Mother Goose Suite .

Aquarian Release Party
Join us for a release party celebrating the newest edition of The Aquarian , Jacksonville University ’ s award-winning literature and arts magazine . For more than five decades , The Aquarian has supported JU ’ s artists and authors by giving them a platform to express themselves and share their creativity in a high-quality publication . This party will celebrate the release of the 51st edition of 2021 as well as the magazine ’ s landmark 50th edition , which was delayed due to COVID-19 .

Metamorphoses *
Written and originally directed by Mary Zimmerman , and originally staged on Broadway in the early 2000s , this Tony-award-winning play invites the audience to take a voyage through Ovid ’ s mystical world . Audiences will reimagine familiar characters like Midas , Zeus and Orpheus and will experience new characters and stories that are soaked in the concept of change and that center on mental , emotional , and physical transformation . The action of the play occurs around a pool filled with water – the basis of life . This play is considered one of the most important works of modern drama . Its production is driven by the Senior Bachelor of Fine Arts Class and will be directed by Erik DeCicco .
