Torres Strait Islander students . These strategies include professional learning opportunities for teachers and school leaders to spend time on Country with Aboriginal community members to consider First Nations ’ ways of knowing , doing and being ; curriculum workshops to develop and reflect on teaching and learning practices ; and teacher / cultural mentor collaborations to develop curriculum , pedagogy and assessment .
Another is the Cultural Residents Project , led by Dr Rose Amazan , illustrating the impact , and necessity , of having Aboriginal cultural educators employed in schools to guide engagement with First Nations histories , cultures and knowledges . The project is proof-of-concept for Know your Country , World Vision ’ s nationwide campaign to place a First Nations cultural educator in every Australian primary school to improve First Nations student outcomes , education quality for all students and create a more equitable society .
