Calculata’ s Mission
In this activity we’ re testing our geography and mathematical skills. The main thing is to plan the most creative and unusual cruise possible within the parameters below! Think cruise tour operator for AQUILAnauts!
ACTIVITY SKILLS

CRUISE RULES
• YOU HAVE TO VISIT AT LEAST TEN DIFFERENT PORTS
DIFFICULTY
• THE CRUISE NEEDS TO LAST 18 NIGHTS
• YOUR CRUISE LINER TRAVELS AT 25 MPH
• YOUR PASSENGERS NEED AT LEAST 6 HOURS AT THE STOPS
• AT LEAST TWO OF THE STOPS NEED TO BE FOR 24 HOURS
• IF YOUR START AND FINISH PORTS ARE NOT IN THE UK YOU NEED TO FACTOR IN FLIGHT TIMES AND TIME ZONES INTO YOUR 18 NIGHTS
STEP 1 Have a look at some maps in atlases or online and start to plan a route. Is there a part of the world that you think would be excellent to travel around by boat? Or somewhere that you or someone you are creating the cruise for has always wanted to visit?
STEP 2 Work out roughly how many miles your liner would sail per day. Remember that some days it could sail for the full 24 hours but others need to factor in a stopover. Remember stopovers need to allow for your passengers to get off the boat and spend time ashore.
