THE DIRECTOR OF SCHOOLS: POSITION OVERVIEW
The Director of Schools plans, develops, directs, and administers all phases of the Cranbrook Schools’ instructional programs and all other interfacing academic and auxiliary support departments including admissions, athletics, the boarding program, counseling and nursing, food service, special and summer programs, and accreditation processes. The Director administers all operations of the Schools within approved objectives, programs and budgets. The Director will collaborate in the identification and implementation of successful cross-division educational programs and activities, and support the Schools participation in Community-wide planning initiatives that help further Cranbrook Educational Community’ s mission, vision, goals and objectives. It is imperative that the Director be adept at external relations, telling Cranbrook’ s story, and fundraising.
Other essential duties of the Director of Schools include, but are not limited to, the following:
• Providing the overall professional leadership and management of Cranbrook Schools and serving as the key leader and spokesperson of the Schools
• Determining and prioritizing the Schools’ fundraising needs in collaboration with the Chief Advancement Officer and Director of Development to identify and cultivate the donors necessary to meet those needs
• Overseeing the recruitment, development, evaluation, and retention of superior faculty and staff
• Upholding and progressing Cranbrook’ s academic standards and achievements
• Promoting the development of innovation and technology initiatives in all three school divisions
• Developing and managing the Schools’ operating budget in collaboration with the COO
• Advancing the Schools’ commitment to a diverse student body, faculty and staff
• Evaluating and overseeing the attainment of enrollment objectives
• Monitoring athletic programs and assuring balance with the academic programs
• Acting as Cranbrook’ s liaison to ISACS, NAIS, Global Online Academy, World Leading School Association and all relevant National, State and regional associations
