Cranbrook Horizons-Upward Bound( HUB)
HUB prepares underserved students from the Detroit area to enter and succeed in post-secondary education. Established in 1965 with a grant from the Ford Foundation, HUB is one of the oldest and largest programs of its kind in the country. HUB offers supplementary college preparatory instruction for high school students, many of whom will be the first in their families to attend college. Students are nominated for the program by a teacher or counselor during the second half of their 8 th grade year, and only one of every four nominees is accepted. HUB students complete a six-week summer term living in Cranbrook’ s dormitories and attend Saturday classes on campus during the academic year. They also receive college counseling and assistance in applying for financial aid from the Cranbrook-HUB staff.
