Attributes are the personal characteristics of a RPG persona. These typically include: Strength, Dexterity, Constitution and so on… By using the common language of popular RPGs, it is expected to foster a sense of immersion for some students.

The character sheet will track attributes relating to selected language learning skills, see chart below. Each quest or task completed earns the student points towards the attribute(s) associated with the completed task. When enough points have been earned, that attribute will “level up” to the next highest level:

Attribute Language Skills

Strength --> Intensive Reading

Endurance --> Extensive Reading

Dexterity --> Controlled Writing

Agility --> Free Writing

Intelligence --> Solo Speaking

Wisdom --> Team Speaking

Constitution --> Listening

The character sheet is the main feedback mechanism for the student. The character presents the most important elements of feedback. By linking the RPG game elements on the character sheet to the learning objectives, it affords the student a sense of immersion in each activity.
