Adam Dulye and Michael Harlan’s The Beer Pantry ($25) isn’t a fab cookbook by beer
book standards, it’s a fab book by all cookbook standards. Dulye’s beer-inspired recipes
are listed in the style chapter they pair with best—some dishes are prepared with beer,
some are not, but all come with pairing recs. I’m obsessed with the Beer Pantry Staples
(like Hop Salt and Øl Rugbrød Loaf), the fish and shellfish dishes, and I could eat Grilled
Radicchio with Bacon, Almond, and Gorgonzola daily.
From Drew Lazor and the Editors of PUNCH , Session Cocktails ($19) is a collection of
sophisticated, low-octane drink recipes designed to be savored without getting you soz-
zled. In Drinking Distilled ($17), Jeffrey Morgenthaler drolly dispenses advice and bits and
pieces of boozy info like bar etiquette, cocktail terms, tools, recipes, holiday drinking, and
responsible consumption. Hold onto that copy of All the Places You’ll Go , Drinking Distilled
is the book all young (and the not so young) adults should be armed with before being
released into the world.
