“National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation is so great because it
highlights some of the realities of the holidays with family, dysfunc-
tion and all. No family is picture perfect and if you can throw a little
comedy in there it’s that much better. Laughter is the medicine for
the soul, as they say, and what better way to celebrate with a drink
and a cheer to all the Cousin Eddies out there!”

Head Distiller, Nelson’s Green Brier
COUSIN EDDIE
By James Hensley
2 oz. Belle Meade Bourbon
1/2 oz. All Spice Dram
1/2 oz. Dry Orange Curacao
3/4 oz. Fresh Lemon Juice
1 oz. Simple Syrup
1 dash Angostura Bitters
1 Egg White
Beaujolais Nouveau
Add all ingredients, save for the Beaujolais, to a shaker and shake
very hard for about 15 seconds. Strain the cocktail into a rocks
glass filled with the largest ice cubes you have. Allow the cocktail
to rest for one minute. Then float the Beaujolais in the drink by
cautiously pouring 4-5 bar spoons full of the wine onto the ice in
the center of the cocktail.
Nelson’s Green Brier Distillery Belle Meade Bourbon • $40
Nelson’s Green Brier’s flagship spirit, Belle Meade Bour-
bon, is a blend of six and eight-year-old whiskey, its
rye-forward mash bill has a nice spice that holds up well
in complex cocktails but’s still makes a sweetheart of a
sipper. This is definitely one to stock in your cabinet, but
I also recommend you make a little room for one or all of
the Belle Mead Bourbons finished in sherry casks.
