“At this season of my life, I am buried in dirty kid laundry
all over my house and covered in dried boogers. It is all my
wife and I can do to keep the house in order and our sanity
intact. They are beautiful little messes, and we are enjoying
our time with them at the ages they are. That being said, I
don’t usually have time to think about a 4+ ingredient cock-
tail that takes 10 minutes to make. It’s Beer Barrel Bourbon
and Vernors Ginger Ale for this guy. Vernors is a Michigan
staple in most of our childhoods up here, usually came out
when we had an upset belly as a kid. Adding Bourbon to it
just makes it a prescription. Jingle All the Way on TV.”

New Holland Beer Barrel Bourbon • $30
Once this bourbon is done aging in new American oak, it’s put to bed
for three months in barrels that previously housed Dragon’s Milk Stout—
New Holland’s wildly popular year-round bourbon barrel aged beer— to
mingle with its malty, vanilla goodness. I’ve yet to meet a beer drinker
that I couldn’t convert into a whiskey drinker with a Beer Barrel Bourbon
Old Fashioned or a Walk of Shame, a milk punch cocktail Christopher
James created for an Under My Host show we recorded with some of the
New Holland guys.
