The Advantages of AI for Small Businesses

While“ artificial intelligence” sounds like something straight from sci-fi, the fact is, you’ ve probably been using AI without even knowing it.
If you’ ve ever said,“ Hey Google,” or asked Siri to turn on the living room light, you’ ve used AI. If you’ ve dealt with customer service online, you’ ve used AI. If you’ ve watched Netflix or used social media, you’ ve used AI.
In today’ s culture, it’ s nearly unavoidable. In fact, even as I type this article, the word processing program I’ m using is populating suggestions of what it thinks my next word will be. Incidentally, it’ s not always right.
When it comes to AI, I still have concerns— not quite to the scale of a robot apocalypse or anything. And the fact that I’ m a content creator actually writing an article advocating AI feels like an act of treason. But it helps to keep in mind what AI really is. Plain and simple, AI is a tool. And like any tool, how you use it is what matters.
At the recent Winter CPE, retailers had the opportunity to attend a breakout session called“ Introduction to AI in Retail” led by Steven Ammons, Bookstore Manager Account Rep and Trainer.
Not only has Steven received training at major AI conferences over the past three years, he has also successfully trained over 100 business owners on AI tools and built custom GPT( generative pre-trained transformer) agents, which analyze and interpret data to generate human-like text. His goal in all of this is to help independent retailers reclaim valuable time with the use of AI.
