YOUTH PANEL DISCUSSION

“How youth are addressing radon and lung cancer advocacy”

(1) Mia Ray, Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Justice Advisory Board Member,

Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection. Harrisburg University graduate, majored in Integrative Sciences, and served as SGA President, Rotary Club President, and NAACP Director of Outreach. Her research linked redlining to green space access. Now a Pulmonary Research Specialist at Penn State College of Medicine, she studies radon-induced lung cancer biomarkers and advocates for radon awareness in schools with old infrastructure.  Speaker at the 2023 AARST Symposium.

(2) David Trent, Junior in Neuroscience. Founder of RnFree. org. Case Western Reserve University Student Presidents Roundtable:  Residence Hall Association (RHA) President. The Residence Hall Association (RHA) is one of the largest student organizations at Case Western Reserve University. Through programming, advocacy, and leadership development, we hope to foster a vibrant and inclusive residential community.  https:/ / community. case. edu/ sec/ members/

(3) Alisha Keshwani, University of Michigan. Founded a chapter of ALCSI with Alina Keshwani and Ella Kazerooni, M.D. Alisha Keshwani is a sophomore at the University of Michigan studying Biology, Health, and Society and Science, Technology, and Society with a concentration in Medicine. Keshwani works with the American Lung Cancer Screening Initiative.

(4) Alina Keshwani University of Michigan. Co-president and co-founder of ALCSI chapter at Michigan. Alina Keshwani is a sophomore at the University of Michigan majoring in Biopsychology, Cognition, and Neuroscience. Her work involves research and leadership roles that aim to improve health outcomes, especially in areas related to lung cancer.

(5) Joshua Keyes , Founder of Genesis Creation Project, a nonprofit organization which focuses on education surrounding pets and radon, environmental issues, and animal education, his goal is to not only educate youth, adults, and pet owners about the dangers of radon, but to lead others to take personal initiatives in regard to their own mental, emotional, physical health to assist in creating stronger communities.

(6) Brent Ulbert, Moderator. Owner of PDS Radon Supply and an active sponsor and participant in AARST now the IEA (Indoor Environments Association). Brent has presented numerous times at the International Radon Symposium. PDS sponsors and donates to the AARST Foundation, RMIEA, the Premier Youth Ambassadors, and myriad other causes close to our hearts.
