On September 18, nearly 300 medical research advocates from more than 30 states are visiting congressional offices as part of the 13th Annual Rally for Medical Research to advocate for robust, sustained, and predictable funding increases for the National Institutes of Health (NIH). You can join them by participating in the Rally for Medical Research National Day of Action by contacting your members of Congress and urging them to support funding for the NIH.
The importance of medical research has never been clearer. It is crucial that members of Congress hear directly from you about the importance of federal investments in the NIH and why medical research must remain a national priority.
Advocates taking part in the Rally for Medical Research National Day of Action are asking Congress to:
Provide the highest possible increase to the NIH base budget in FY 2026. The medical research community has recommended at least $51.3 billion and urges Congress to appropriate no less than the Senate mark of $47.2 billion.
Work in a bipartisan way to complete the FY 2026 appropriations process in a timely manner to avoid disruptions to the medical research system.
Reach out to your members of Congress and let them know that NIH funding is important to you. Thank you for your advocacy and for taking part in the Rally for Medical Research National Day of Action!
