Driven by the personal loss of her mother to lung cancer, Kawther Al Ksir, MSc, RN,

pursues a Doctor of Public Health at East Tennessee

State University, her

research laser-focused

on radon-induced

lung cancer in

Northeast Tennessee.

This focus isn't just

a burning desire to

prevent similar

tragedies in her

adopted home.

Formerly a nurse in Tunisia, including a year battling COVID-19 on the frontlines, Kawther brings resilience, compassion, and firsthand understanding of healthcare challenges to her academic pursuits. Her Research Master's in Health Sciences and experience in diverse research teams equip her with strong quantitative skills and an adaptable, collaborative spirit. Now a passionate graduate assistant at ETSU's Center for Rural Health Research, Kawther's journey, marked by academic excellence and a deeply personal connection to her research in Northeast Tennessee, promises to make a lasting impact on public health outcomes.
