RnFree dedicates itself to raising awareness of radon exposure in the home. Our goal is to save lives. We will do this by providing a way for individuals and families that do not have the financial ability to pay for a radon test, to obtain a free test kit. We are funded 100% through donations; every dollar we collect goes toward radon kits for families and individuals in need.
The President of RnFree, David Trent, created this charity along with the co-founders in part to honor his mother, Helena Trent. She passed away at the age of 47 from aggressive lung cancer, and had no known risk factors. In many such cases, Radon is suspected as a potential cause. Helena was an amazing woman, mother, and friend to many.
Helena Trent was a mother, a friend, a teacher, and a successful businesswoman. She was diagnosed with stage four cancer in September of 2018. She had never smoked a day in her life. After two years of battling cancer, she died on the 14th of July in 2020. Helena Trent was never known to give up and never showed a lack of gratitude for the world, no matter the cards it dealt her.
As her son, I felt it was my duty to carry on her memory, never give up, and not settle for preventable deaths. As a result, I pledged to dedicate myself to the practice of saving lives, the prevention of motherless children, and empty chairs. RnFree is the first step to keeping families safe.
