Clean Air Caption

Clean Air for All was inspired by the Level Green Elementary School in Westmoreland County, PA. Protect PT offered to provide free air monitoring for the school.. Monitors would provide teachers, students, parents, and school administrative staff with real-time air quality updates so they could make informed decisions about their health at school. The school rejected the offer.

Knowing the quality of your air is crucial to protecting your health and reducing your exposure to contaminants. Knowledge is power - the power to make informed decisions about your health and the health of your loved ones.

That’s why Protect PT offers air monitoring programs, so you can know what your air quality is and if it is being negatively impacted.

Radon and Air Quality

Attending school is mandated by the state, yet the state does not require testing for radon and air quality, leaving children vulnerable to potential pollutants. Many school buildings are old and have poor ventilation, leaving students at greater risk of health impacts from contaminants such as radon. Is your child being exposed to radon?

Radon is an extremely dangerous gas that often goes undetected since it is colorless and odorless. The only way to know whether you are being exposed to radon is to test for it. That’s why Protect PT is offering free radon testing in the Southwestern PA region. If you live in our service area and have not had your radon tested, sign up today! If you live outside our zone but would like your radon to be tested, look for organizations offering radon testing in your area or contact us for additional resources.

Radon is not the only contaminate children can be exposed to. Protect PT offers free air quality monitoring to residents to test for particulate matter and volatile organic compounds. Protect PT conducts air monitoring studies at homes and provides data analysis (through a partnership with Southwest PA Environmental Health Project) to give residents a better understanding of their air quality and how it could be impacting them. Residents who participate in these studies also receive a packet with information about air quality, tips for maintaining good air quality in the home and other resources.

Anyone interested in participating in an air quality or radon study should contact Chad Clair, [email protected].

“I was able to use one of these monitors at my house. After a month, I found that radon levels were far above EPA action levels and we had a mitigation system installed. I’m so glad I found out about the high radon levels, so I could take action and keep my family safe.” ... Patrick C
