CR3 News Magazine 2021 VOL 4: SEPTEMBER RADON, CHILDREN and SCHOOLS | Page 25

In our early years, HSC focused on specific health issues such as the rising rates of asthma and childhood obesity. Since then, we have expanded our scope to address the multiple components of a healthy school, from helping to develop outdoor learning spaces that offer neighborhood benefits to providing guidance on expanding school-based health services.

By engaging with parents, teachers, school leaders and policymakers, we help schools increase their capacity to address student health needs and work to ensure that policies are in place to support healthy school environments. We publish reports, policy recommendations and toolkits that stakeholders can use to advance these efforts.

Healthy Schools Campaign is committed to equal opportunity and nondiscrimination in all programs and services, does not and shall not discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion (creed), gender, gender expression, age, national origin (ancestry), disability, marital status, sexual orientation, or military status, in any of its activities or operations.

Environmental Policy

School environmental health—from siting to indoor air quality and much more—is shaped by policy at the national, state and local levels. This has a profound impact on children’s health and readiness to learn.
