FROM THE DIRECTOR:
WHY WE ARE HERE ...
As fall approaches, sunflowers are in bloom, monarch butterflies are preparing for a long trip, and squirrels are scurrying to gather nuts for the winter, it seemed appropriate to share this story of the sunflowers which was shared on facebook by our friend and lung cancer survivor, Susan Smedley.
“Sunflowers turn according to the position of the sun. They literally “chase the light.” You might already know this, but there is another fact that you probably do not know! Have you ever wondered what happens on cloudy and rainy days when the sun is completely covered by clouds?🤔 Interesting question. Isn’t it? Perhaps you think the sunflower withers or
turns its head towards the ground. Is this
what crossed your mind?Well, that’s incorrect!
This is what happens:
They turn towards each other to
share their energy.🌻✨🌻
Nature’s perfection is amazing and has so
much to teach us.”
We are here to support and empower each other as our stories continue to unfold. Opening our hearts and lives to the world as we chase the light helps us to be the light for others. It is critical that we continue to share our knowledge, efforts, and experiences with others to assist in the war on this demon, lung cancer, (especially radon-induced lung cancer which can easily be prevented). Our lives are just specs in this great cosmos; but if we mass together, we can become a giant fire ball of action.
This issue contains some words from teachers who have experienced cancer and want to step out and make a difference in our children’s lives regarding safe and healthy air quality in our nation’s schools. We pray their words will be heard world wide.
