The Profession: Bringing the CPA Training
Program to our Employment Partners
W I N T E R
2 0 1 5
The CPA training program provides many opportunities for current
CPA candidates and employers. The need for CPAs is projected to grow
consistently in BC over the next decade, and therefore training and
mentoring the next generation of CPAs has become imperative. This issue of
Industry Update is devoted to our own profession and the CPA certification
program. With the options to join the CPABC Career Connect employer
program and train CPAs through the pre-approved program route and/or
the experience verification route, employers in industry and public practice
have a variety of ways to enhance their visibility and attractiveness to
in-demand CPA candidates.
British Columbia’s CA, CGA, and CMA bodies
are currently working to unite under the CPA
designation. CPABC Industry Update is their
online magazine for members, candidates,
and students working in industry.
The winter issue of CPABC Industry Update profiles the growing demand
for CPAs, the CPA training program, the CPABC Career Connect employer
program, the CPA mentorship requirements, British Columbia Lottery
Corporation’s experience as a member of Career Connect, and YMCA’s and
Methanex’s experiences as Pre-Approved Training Offices. This issue also
provides an update for current mentors and outlines mentorship strategies
used by employers.
