Jim Bauer, CPA, CMA, has taken on the role
of chief financial officer with the City of
Penticton. Previously, Jim served in various
senior financial and information technology
positions with the Government of Alberta.
Wisdom Ncube, CPA, CA, has been elected
president of the Fraser Valley CPA Association
(FVCPAA) for 2016/17. The FVCPAA fosters
professional relationships among CPAs in the
Fraser Valley through PD, public awareness,
and student support.
A belated congratulations to Terry Duggan,
CPA, CGA, who was promoted to the role of
president and CEO of the British Columbia
Maritime Employers Association (BCMEA)
this summer. Terry has worked with the
BCMEA since 1987, and most recently served
as its VP of finance and acting CEO.
John Pankratz, FCPA, FCGA, partner at
Friesen Pankratz & Associates LLP, has been
elected chair of the University of the Fraser
Valley’s (UFV) board of governors. An
advocate for the university and its students,
John is UFV’s first alumnus to become board
chair. He was also recently elected to the board
of the Abbotsford Restorative Justice and
Advocacy Association.
Tiffany Francois, CPA, CA, a senior manager
at PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP, has joined the
board of directors of the Boys and Girls Club
of Victoria. Tiffany recently returned to her
hometown of Victoria after working and living
in Vancouver, and is eager to volunteer her
financial expertise with an organization that
models the values she hopes to instil in her
three young boys.
Cindy Sahlstrom, CPA, CA, of Sahlstrom &
Associates, has been elected to the board of the
Abbotsford Restorative Justice and Advocacy
Association, which looks for innovative ways
to impart restorative values and practices in
the community.
Elio Luongo, FCPA, FCA, has been elected
chief executive officer of KPMG Canada. His
five-year term will commence October 1, 2016.
Elio has served as Canadian managing partner
in the tax practice at KPMG and is a former
chair of the Vancouver Board of Trade. He is
an active contributor to such organizations as
Simon Fraser University’s Beedie School of
Business and the Canadian Tax Foundation.
Amanda Wright has been appointed to the
board of directors of the United Way of the
Central and South Okanagan Similkameen. A
staff accountant with KPMG in Kelowna,
Amanda is currently working towards her
CPA designation.
