PRESCHOOL
Abounding in Hope
Solid starts at CPA Preschool
In 2020 , the CPA Preschool building was named Spero Hall — spero , a Latin word meaning hope . Romans 15:13 hangs outside the doors : “ May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing , so that by the power of the Holy Spirit you may abound in hope .” The youngest students on the Academy ’ s campus , these two-year-old through preK students at the very beginning of their lives as learners , bear the hope of the CPA mission : to live transformed by God ’ s truth for God ’ s glory .
Faculty and staff in the preschool immerse students in an environment that is purposeful and productive , encouraging them to take important steps that will build a strong foundation for their lives . Numerical and alphabetical literacy is embedded throughout the preschool curricula , gradually increasing in challenge and rigor so that students gain confidence and proficiency in preK . This foundation sets them up for high engagement in reading and math to best prepare for kindergarten . Teachers track the progress of the whole child ( academic , social , emotional , physical , creative , spiritual ), partnering with parents throughout each milestone — from gaining independence , sharing , letter writing , phonemic awareness , and drawing self portraits to using words to express emotions . Each student is nurtured at their own pace of discovery , for each student is God ’ s unique design , fearfully and wonderfully made .
Our teachers model the love of Christ in daily connection with each student , teaching them to exemplify the same love to friends , family , and the world around them .
With high-quality preschool programs across the city of Nashville — what makes CPA Preschool special ? The consistent and intentional focus on the hope of the gospel is taught at every stage of development , framing the beginnings of a strong , foundational Christian worldview . Teachers hold high regard for the minds of young children when it comes to understanding theology , teaching from the Bible every single day .
“ There are so many vehicles for teaching biblical truth to young students : weekly Chapel , daily Bible time , memory verses , art , books , music , and more . But most importantly , our teachers model the love of Christ in daily connection with each student , teaching them to exemplify the same love to friends , family , and the world around them . We teach them to be peace-makers , caretakers , truth seekers — Soli Deo Gloria .” says Head of Preschool Lauren Overbeek .
In a world dizzied by cultural shifts , it is CPA ’ s mission to empower students with God ’ s truth that does not change . In preschool , the youngest students hold the deepest wonder for God ’ s love , His strength , and our need for Him . In moments of heaviness , we look to these students to see this hope shining in their eyes , “ for to such belongs the kingdom of heaven .” ( Matthew 19:14 )
